Huellas de #132

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of 1968’s student movement, and to reflect  on the many political, social, and cultural movements that have shaped Mexico and  its people, UNAM organized the M68 – Ciudadanías en movimiento program. Piso  16 – Laboratorio de Iniciativas Culturales UNAM participated through its call for video  and photography related to the #YoSoy132 social movement: Huellas de #132.

By the time the call ended on July the 15th, 11 entries were received: four in the  video category, and seven in the photography one. The selection had two different  formats: through a jury and public voting.

The members of the jury came together and unanimously selected the following  proposals:

Photo: Leslie Pérez, El resplandor.

Video: Salvador Servín – Si nosotros no ardemos ¿Quién iluminará esta  obscuridad?

Public voting was laid out as follows: The videos were posted on Piso 16’s Youtube channel; the winner was the most played and most liked video. On the other hand,  the most liked photographic series posted on Piso 16’s Instagram account was the  winner. These were the results:

Photo: Leslie Pérez, El resplandor. 56 likes. (agreeing with the jury’s decision).

Video: Brigada Altavoz, AltaVoz mensaje. #YoSoy132 brigada línea B. 68 likes,  played 519 times.

Scheduled activities

The selection was exhibited for the first time at Universidad Iberoamericana’s Centro  de Exploración y Pensamiento Crítico (CeX) on December the 12th 2018. Its  unveiling was announced as 132 Huellas. Encuentro de artistas y activistas. A seis  años, logros y perspectivas. Its main goal was to talk about the #YoSoy132 movement 6 years after its conception. The meeting was moderated by Benjamín  Arditi, and students who were members of it had an interesting participation.

For the second time, the lobby of the Unidad de Vinculación Artística (UVA) -which  is a part of the Centro Cultural Universitario Tlatelolco- was exhibited from March the  20th to May the 30th 2019. For this opening, a dialogue was organized with the  selected candidates and 2 guests: Valentina Nolli, who while still being a student at  IBERO in 2012, organized the visits to the presidential candidates, and was a  witness to the jeering aimed at Enrique Peña Nieto that originated the #YoSoy132  movement; and Carlos Cruz, who participated in said movement, and who teaches  at UVA. The discussion was moderated by Eunice Hernández, coordinator of the  Memorial M68 from CCU Tlatelolco.

Additionally, the three winning works: Leslie Pérez’s El Resplandor, Brigada  Informativa Altavoz’s Brigada Altavoz: #YoSoy132 Línea B, and Salvador Servín’s Si nosotros no ardemos ¿quién iluminará la oscuridad? Were integrated to the digital  repository of M68 – Ciudadanías en Movimiento from the Centro Cultural  Universitario Tlatelolco.
